SYRIZA-PS criticizes Greek government over cost of living and private debt

The opposition party SYRIZA-PS has criticized Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, accusing the government of ignoring major social issues, specifically the rising cost of living and fuel prices. The party claims the administration's stance is a deliberate political choice that neglects the daily struggles of the majority of Greek citizens.

In response to the housing crisis and rising rents affecting students, SYRIZA-PS has submitted legislative proposals to the Parliament. These include measures to strengthen social housing in urban centers and a proposal to transform EFKA into a national investor to help manage private debt and housing issues.

Furthermore, the party has called for the establishment of an investigative committee to examine private debt, specifically focusing on the ‘Hercules’ scheme, the operation of debt funds and servicers, and the use of state guarantees. Nikos Pappas, the party's central committee secretary, met with consumer protection groups to discuss these measures, emphasizing the need for transparency regarding how these systems affect Greek citizens' assets.
