Syros Cats sanctuary on Greek island invites volunteers

The Syros Cats animal sanctuary on the Greek island of Syros is opening a new volunteer program. Selected participants will receive free lodging, daily breakfast and basic utilities in exchange for a minimum one‑month commitment of five hours of work per day, five days a week. Duties include feeding, cleaning, socialising and caring for the resident cats, as well as occasional medication administration and support for adoption processes.

Applicants must be healthy adults capable of independent living on the island. While prior experience in animal rescue or veterinary work is advantageous, it is not mandatory. Volunteers are responsible for their own travel costs to Greece and any personal expenses not covered by the program. The initiative aims to improve the welfare of hundreds of stray cats on Syros and promote respectful coexistence between the animals and the local community.
