Syros-Hermoupolis Municipality faces criticism over lack of representation
The Municipality of Syros-Hermoupolis has come under fire following a meeting of the Board of Directors of the South Aegean Decentralized Administration (PED). The meeting, held on October 23, focused on determining the positions and proposals of the South Aegean PED for the Annual Regular Congress of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE).
Critics argue that the municipality was not represented by its elected Mayor, who is a member of the PED Board, or by any other elected official. Instead, the municipality was represented by a private individual, a seconded employee, and the General Secretary of the Municipality, Mr. Kouroutos. This has led to accusations of undermining institutional processes and the role of elected officials in local government.
