Syros Jazz Festival celebrates Hermoupolis 200th anniversary

The 14th Syros Jazz Festival is returning to Hermoupolis, Greece, under the theme ‘Dialogues’. This year’s edition coincides with the 200th anniversary of the founding of Hermoupolis, celebrating the city's history of cultural convergence.

The festival features a diverse program including musical performances at the Apollo Theatre by artists such as Sakis Papadimitriou, Georgia Syllaiou, and the Barakos Orchestra. The event also emphasizes the intersection of jazz with other art forms through film screenings in collaboration with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and specialized workshops.

A central component of the festival is the ‘Jazz on Canvas’ exhibition by award-winning artist Michalis Kountouris. Hosted at the Plastico Gallery, the exhibition features new works created specifically for the festival alongside previously published pieces, exploring the visual connection to jazz music.
