Syros murder investigation: New evidence and conflicting testimonies emerge

Authorities in Syros are conducting a renewed investigation into the murder of Evangelia, nearly three months after the incident. Key elements of the inquiry include the lifting of telephone privacy to analyze the victim's final communications, her arrival on the island, and her movements prior to entering the suspect's home.

The victim's family maintains that her visit to the suspect's residence was not intended for robbery. They claim she had been informed of inappropriate behavior by the man toward a member of her close family circle and intended to confront and warn him.

In contrast, the former wife of the accused has publicly disputed these claims. She stated that she never witnessed any behavior justifying such allegations and noted that the children from both families, who are cousins, interacted frequently without incident. She asserted that the victim had never reported any concerns regarding her former husband during their time as part of the same social circle.
