Syros Port Authority arrests man for using forged maritime certificates

Officers of the Syros Port Authority successfully intercepted a 46-year-old Greek national who attempted to secure employment as a captain on a tugboat using forged maritime competency certificates.

The Cyclades Coast Guard Personnel Union issued a statement congratulating the Syros officers for their professionalism and operational readiness. The Union highlighted that this successful enforcement occurred despite significant understaffing and an increased workload within the Cyclades Coast Guard authorities during the busy tourist season.
