Szabolcs Attila Debre wins GeoGuessr World Championship
Szabolcs Attila Debre, a 21-year-old Hungarian player, has become the first Hungarian GeoGuessr World Champion. The 2026 championship final took place at the Tempodrom in Berlin.
In a closely contested match, Debre defeated the French player Mathieu Huet, known as Blinky, with a final score of 3–2. The competitive game requires players to identify precise global locations using Google Street View imagery by analyzing subtle environmental cues such as road markings, vegetation, architecture, and utility poles.
While the game appears to be a simple geography quiz, the professional level of competition demands exceptional memory, speed, and specialized knowledge to interpret minute details from the Street View camera perspective.
