Szarvas launches free summer “Kis esti zene” concert series

On June 19 the town of Szarvas opened the “Kis esti zene” (Little Evening Music) series at the Zenepavilon, marking the eve of the 29th Harvest Day, a traditional gathering for Hungarian communities from across the border. Local officials, including MP Gombár Dávid and Mayor Hodálik Pál, highlighted the programme’s role in supporting regional culture and confirmed continued government backing. The series will run nightly until August 19, offering free performances by local talent and drawing visitors from Carpathian regions such as Transylvania, Banat and beyond. Organisers emphasized the event’s growth over three decades into a key meeting point for Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin, with fourteen cross‑border towns represented this year. The opening featured a welcome from the Vršac (Viski) delegation, underscoring cultural solidarity despite regional tensions.
