Szczecin fire reservoir accident leaves one boy in critical condition

Two brothers, aged 9 and 11, fell into a fire reservoir near Komuny Paryskiej Street in Szczecin on a Saturday afternoon. The children, who are of Vietnamese nationality, reportedly climbed through a metal fence to play near the water. When one boy fell into the reservoir, the other attempted to rescue him.

Bystanders spotted the children and pulled them to safety. Emergency services performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on both boys, successfully restoring their vital functions before transporting them to a hospital. One boy is reported to be in stable condition, while the other remains in critical condition.

The District Prosecutor's Office in Szczecin has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident. Authorities are examining whether there was a direct threat to the children's lives or health. Investigators have secured surveillance footage from Primary School No. 18 and are questioning witnesses. Police noted that the reservoir area was enclosed by a metal fence with a locked gate and explicit signs prohibiting entry.
