Szczecin hosts Żagle 2026 sailing festival with over 30 vessels

The Żagle 2026 festival has brought over 30 sailing vessels to the banks of the Odra River in Szczecin. Notable participants include the Baltic Beauty, Minerva, ORP Iskra, and the historic 1933 icebreaker Stettin. The event offers public deck tours, river cruises, drone shows, and musical performances at the Main Stage.

The large-scale festival has significantly impacted local logistics. Major streets in the Wały Chrobrego and Łasztownia areas are closed to vehicle traffic, prompting authorities to increase public transport capacity with additional trams and buses. To assist visitors, a Park & Ride system has been established at Hangarowa Street.

Due to the influx of tourists and seasonal travel toward the Baltic coast, police have reported heavy traffic congestion and increased road safety operations. In a single day of monitoring, officers detained seven drivers for operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol, with some recording blood alcohol levels near or above 2 promille.
