Szczecin to host maritime safety conference for sailors
The “Weekend Bezpieczeństwa – Żegluj Świadomie” (Safety Weekend – Sail Consciously) conference will take place on December 5–6, 2026, in Szczecin. Organized by the Centrum Żeglarskie in cooperation with the Zachodniopomorski Okręgowy Związek Żeglarski, the event is designed for both novice sailors and experienced skippers and instructors.
The program includes expert lectures and practical workshops focused on maritime safety, yacht preparation, weather forecasting, and emergency response. Participants will engage in hands-on training, including first aid, the use of VHF radios, and the operation of life rafts and inflatable life jackets.
Key topics will cover the most common causes of accidents on the water, the responsibilities of a skipper, and cooperation with maritime rescue services. The event also aims to address new challenges in yacht sailing, such as hazards posed by offshore wind farms.
