Poland universities begin 2026/2027 academic year

Universities across Poland are commencing the 2026/2027 academic year with various ceremonies and events. In Łódź, over 70,000 students, including 19,000 first-years, gathered for an inauguration at the Łódź Philharmonic, supported by 5 million PLN in regional funding. In Szczecin, nine higher education institutions organized a joint celebration featuring the ‘Spacerek na Uniwerek’ parade and the premiere of a new student anthem.

Other regional activities include a multi-university inauguration in Katowice, Silesia, featuring rector processions and scientific lectures, and the 24th inauguration at Kaszubsko-Pomorska Higher School in Wejherowo. In Rzeszów, the theological seminary held its 34th academic opening with religious and academic components.

In Warsaw, UKSW reported a record recruitment of over 30,000 candidates. Meanwhile, in Wrocław, tens of thousands of students returned to the city, with local guides highlighting transport discounts and student resources for the new semester.
