Szeged Cathedral organ tour opens to public on Aug. 1

On Saturday, August 1, the Szeged Cathedral (Szegedi Dóm) will host a 90‑minute guided walk focused on its historic pipe organ. Visitors will learn about the cathedral’s construction and the organ’s background – built between 1928 and 1930 by the Angster factory and once ranked the third‑largest church organ in Europe. The tour ends with a live performance of the instrument by organist and cantor Péter Nagy. Participation requires prior registration and a ticket priced at 3,500 HUF.

The event is part of the cathedral’s summer program, designed to bring the public closer to the building’s musical heritage and offer a unique listening experience compared with hearing the organ from the nave.
