Szeged railway service halted by avar fire

A large avar (grass) fire broke out near the approach tracks of Szeged railway station, prompting the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) to suspend train operations in the area. Trains between Budapest and Szeged, as well as services to Békéscsaba, Szabadka and Röszke, were halted. Replacement bus services are being run from Szeged station to Kiskundorozsma, Szeged‑Rókus and other affected points, while some intercity trains continue only up to Kiskundorozsma.

Passengers are advised to expect significant delays and to follow alternative transport arrangements provided by the Volán bus network. The fire remains under control, but its impact on regional rail connectivity continues.
