Szerencsejáték Zrt. fined 10 million HUF for lottery irregularities
The Hungarian Regulatory Authority for Regulated Activities (SZTFH) has imposed a 10 million HUF administrative fine on Szerencsejáték Zrt. following an investigation into irregularities during the 16th gaming week of 2026.
The investigation revealed that the company deviated from approved game plans during the online closing process. While the SZTFH stated that these deviations did not influence the lottery draw results, documents obtained through a public interest data request show that winning ticket data was present in the system well before the online closing and the actual draws occurred.
Concerns have been raised regarding transparency, as the SZTFH redacted specific details from its decision, citing business secrets. These redactions include the exact timing of the irregular operations and the precise nature of the sanctioned deviations. In response, a request for investigation has been filed with the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) to determine if the withholding of this information was lawful.
