Sziget Festival drives significant tourism spending in Hungary
A survey conducted by GKI Gazdaságkutató Zrt. at the Sziget Festival reveals the significant economic impact of the event on the Hungarian economy. According to the study, which surveyed 529 attendees, an international festival-goer spends an average of approximately 260,000 HUF within Hungary, excluding international travel costs. This amount covers festival tickets, accommodation in Budapest, and catering.
The data indicates that international visitors tend to stay longer and spend more than domestic ones. While the average stay for all respondents was 3.2 days, international visitors averaged 3.5 days. Approximately 47% of the festival attendees were foreigners, and about half of the total participants were visiting Sziget for the first time. The average age of the participants was 26 years.
