Sziget Festival noise levels remain below legal limits

Initial noise level measurements at the Sziget Festival indicate that sound levels have remained well below the prescribed legal limits. Tamás Kádár, the festival's chief organizer, reported that monitoring in Budapest's III. district at Búza Street and Fő Square showed levels staying under the 55-decibel nighttime threshold.

Monitoring efforts are ongoing, with noise brigades and permanent stations active in the IV. and XIII. districts to ensure compliance. Regulations permit up to 65 decibels before 11:00 PM and a maximum of 55 decibels after that time. Organizers utilize a remote limiter system to adjust volume at specific stages if necessary.

Kádár noted that environmental factors, such as wind and heat, may influence how sound travels and is perceived by residents in nearby high-rise buildings. The monitoring process involves cooperation with local municipal governments to respond effectively to resident feedback.
