Sziget Festival returns to Budapest under original founder

The Sziget Festival in Budapest is returning under the leadership of its founder, Károly Gerendai, following a change in ownership. This transition aims to restore the festival’s original identity, focusing on a diverse program that includes pop, indie, electronic, hip-hop, rock, and metal music.

In addition to musical acts such as Twenty One Pilots, Skrillex, and Lewis Capaldi, the festival is emphasizing its culinary offerings. Organizers have reintroduced a budget-friendly food initiative where fixed-price meals are capped at HUF 3,500 (approximately EUR 10). The food program ranges from street food staples like lángos and burgers to Michelin-starred cuisine in VIP sections and a new ‘Food Paradise’ area.

Sustainability is also a key focus, with new strategies implemented to encourage waste separation, ecosystem protection on Obuda Island, and eco-friendly transport. Organizers expect attendance levels similar to previous years, which saw around 416,000 visitors.
