Székelyudvarhely cultural center renovation faces delays and cost increases

The renovation of the cultural center in Székelyudvarhely faces significant delays and potential cost increases due to errors in the fire safety plans. Mayor István Szakács-Paál reported that the designer failed to correct these plans despite multiple requests, using outdated fire safety standards.

The errors necessitate the installation of new fire hydrants and water tanks, which is estimated to cost an additional three million lei. While the Hargita County Council has provided approximately one million lei toward these costs, the remainder must be reallocated from the local budget.

Due to these technical issues, the full handover of the project, originally expected by the end of August, is unlikely. The city is hoping for a partial reception to allow time for the fire safety system to be brought into compliance. The mayor stated that legal action will be taken if the designer's delays prevent the official acceptance of the investment.
