Szpital Południowy in Warsaw faces scrutiny after fetal death

A tragic medical incident has been reported at Szpital Południowy in Warsaw, involving the death of a fetus following a delay in emergency care. In June 2026, a pregnant woman was transported by ambulance to the hospital's emergency department (SOR) suffering from severe abdominal pain and fainting.

Despite the urgency of her condition, the patient waited over three hours for a gynecologist. It was later determined that she had suffered a uterine rupture, leading to internal hemorrhaging. Although medical intervention was eventually initiated, the 22-week-old fetus could not be saved. The patient reported that her critical condition was inaccurately documented as 'good' in medical records during the waiting period.

This incident follows a series of ongoing controversies and investigations regarding the management and medical practices at Szpital Południowy.
