Szymon Hołownia may join Tusk government as Deputy PM

Speculation is mounting regarding a potential government reshuffle in Poland, with reports suggesting Szymon Hołownia could join Donald Tusk’s cabinet as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Funds and Regional Policy. This move would likely result in the dismissal of the current minister, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz.

Coalition members reportedly view Hołownia’s entry into the government as a strategic way to consolidate the Polska 2050 party and merge it with the Centrum parliamentary club. While Prime Minister Tusk has not confirmed these reports, he acknowledged having personal reservations regarding Pełczyńska-Nałęcz’s performance in her current role. He noted that while no changes are expected in August, he makes adjustments when he deems them necessary.

Hołownia has neither confirmed nor denied the reports, stating only that he is currently on family leave. Pełczyńska-Nałęcz has characterized the rumors as a potential attempt to ‘buy him off’ with a high-ranking position.
