Szymon Hołownia seeks government role amid power struggle in Poland 2050

Former vice‑chair of the Poland 2050 party, Szymon Hołownia, is reportedly preparing to re‑enter the Polish government. Sources say he has offered Prime Minister Donald Tusk a proposal to become deputy prime minister and to take charge of the Ministry of Culture. Hołownia is also said to be working to regain control of the party’s parliamentary club, which is currently led by Katarzyna Pełczyńska‑Nałęcz, who was elected party chair on 31 July after an internal contest that saw former leader Paulina Hennig‑Kloska leave to form a new Centre club.

Media reports indicate that Hołownia enjoys the backing of a majority of the club’s members, but Tusk remains skeptical about the suggested appointments. Unconfirmed rumors also mention Hołownia’s interest in a senior UN refugee commissioner post, though no official confirmation has been provided.
