Szymon Wasielak holds art exhibition in Nowy Targ

An art exhibition featuring the works of Szymon Wasielak, a young artist from Gronków, has opened at the Nowy Targ Municipal Office. Wasielak, who lives with an intellectual disability and the rare genetic condition Nicolaides-Baraitser syndrome, uses his art to express emotions and present his unique perception of the world.

His artistic talent was discovered through the ‘Pomost’ Self-Help Club at the Environmental Mental Health Center in Nowy Targ, with significant guidance from painter and poet Sylwia Mensfeld. In addition to painting, Wasielak has a passion for photography, having collected commemorative photos of public figures, including politicians and local officials, since 2015.

This is not Wasielak’s first exhibition; his work has previously been displayed at the Solvay Center for Contemporary Art in Krakow, the Frycz Modrzewski University, and the Cooperative House of Culture in Nowy Targ. He currently works in the art section of the ‘Od Nowa’ Vocational Activity Center.
