T. B. Fruit bankruptcy: Court orders return of $192,000 to US firm

The District Court in Kielce has ruled to return $192,000 to the American firm Greenwood Associates. The funds had mistakenly been deposited into a secured account belonging to the bankrupt company T. B. Fruit.

Greenwood Associates, based in Chicago, maintains that the transfer was intended for a different group company operating in Moldova. While the court views this as a correction of an erroneous transfer, the decision impacts the bankruptcy estate of T. B. Fruit.

The bankruptcy has left approximately 100 Polish orchardists and suppliers awaiting payment. Total claims against T. B. Fruit exceed 40 million PLN, with roughly 25 million PLN owed specifically to farmers. In addition to these debts, the company faces tax arrears and fines from the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) for abusing its contractual advantage.
