TG Mohandas arrested for derogatory remarks on NEET protesters

TG Mohandas, a right-wing political commentator, was arrested by the Thiruvananthapuram Cyber Police from his residence in Mattancherry, Kerala, following controversial remarks made in YouTube videos. The comments were directed at students protesting the NEET paper leak at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

In the videos, allegedly uploaded to his channel 'Pathrika', Mohandas made inflammatory statements, claiming that the protests "could lead to incidents of gang rape" and suggesting that female protesters "enjoy being raped." He also suggested that if he were in power, he would impose a curfew and "open fire" on demonstrators if they refused to disperse, stating that fatalities or injuries would be an acceptable means to restore order.

The arrest follows complaints from student organizations, including the Students' Federation of India (SFI), alleging the content was intended to incite violence and disturb public peace. Mohandas has been charged under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act, and the Kerala Police Act.

While some political figures have criticized the arrest as political drama, the RSS has distanced itself from Mohandas, stating the remarks were his personal views and not those of the organization.
