T Harish Rao urges Telangana government to address exam clashes and drought

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader T Harish Rao has called on Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to address two critical issues facing the state: scheduling conflicts for engineering exams and widespread agricultural distress.

Regarding education, Rao requested the postponement of the Telangana Public Service Commission’s (TGPSC) Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) exam. The exam, currently scheduled for November 6 and 7, clashes with the Staff Selection Commission’s Junior Engineer (JE) test held from November 2 to 6. Rao noted that many candidates may be unable to attend both due to the geographic distance between exam centers, and pointed out that commissions in Odisha and Bihar have previously adjusted dates in similar circumstances.

On agricultural matters, Rao demanded drought relief for farmers across 12 lakh acres of land. Following an inspection of withered paddy fields, he accused the state government of ignoring early warnings regarding El Nino-induced drought conditions. He urged the government to declare drought-hit mandals, provide crop loss compensation, and allocate funds to district collectors to manage water shortages and irrigation issues.
