T-Mobile and Starbucks announce new workforce reductions in Washington

T-Mobile USA, Inc. has announced plans to lay off 77 employees across various Washington locations, including Bellevue, Seattle, Tacoma, and Bellingham. According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed with the Washington State Employment Security Department, the permanent separations are expected to begin on September 21, 2026. This follows previous workforce reductions by the company earlier this year, including a round of 393 cuts in February.

Separately, Starbucks is proceeding with layoffs of 224 employees at its Seattle headquarters. The company filed a WARN notice stating that separations are expected to begin on October 19, 2026, and conclude by November 1. The cuts are attributed to organizational restructuring and include roles such as directors, managers, engineers, and vice presidents. Approximately 120 of these employees were offered relocation to Nashville, Tennessee, but declined. These latest reductions bring the total number of corporate job cuts at the Starbucks Seattle headquarters to 537 so far in 2026.
