T-Mobile Polska and partners launch campaign against sharenting
T-Mobile Polska, UNICEF Polska, and the Polish National Police Headquarters have launched a joint educational campaign titled ‘Status: Udostępnione’ (Status: Shared) to address the issue of sharenting. This phenomenon involves parents publishing photos, videos, and personal information about their children on social media.
A report by T-Mobile Polska reveals that half of surveyed parents in Poland have posted content featuring their children online within the last year. While most parents do so to preserve memories or share moments with loved ones rather than for profit, the practice creates a permanent digital footprint.
The campaign highlights a disconnect between generations: while parents often view these posts as digital family albums, one in five children report feeling embarrassed by the content their parents share. Experts from NASK warn that such publications can lead to future consequences, including cyberbullying or social embarrassment, as children lose control over their digital image.
