T-Mobile sweepstakes awards $5,000 to high schools in Kansas and Iowa

Axtell Public School in Kansas and Mason City High School in Iowa have both been selected as winners of the ‘$5K Fridays’ sweepstakes through T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights competition. Each school received $5,000 to support athletic facility improvements.

Axtell Public School intends to use the funds for stadium lighting, upgraded sound systems, and improved accessibility. Mason City High School plans to address needs such as ADA-accessible restrooms, expanded storage, and press box upgrades for its 45-year-old stadium.

Both schools remain eligible for the competition’s grand prize: a $1 million football field transformation. The national initiative features over $8.4 million in total prizes. The top 40 finalists will be announced on October 8, followed by public voting to determine division champions, with the grand prize winner to be announced on November 12.
