T-Pain sues Akon's Konvict Entertainment for $489,000 in unpaid royalties
Rapper T-Pain has filed a lawsuit in Fulton County Superior Court against Konvict Entertainment, the label owned by Akon, seeking approximately $489,047 in unpaid royalties.
The 80-page legal filing alleges that the debt stems from a $1.3 million royalty payment issued by Zomba Recordings on March 30, 2026. T-Pain claims the lawsuit follows unsuccessful attempts to resolve the issue through BuVision, an independent label managed by Abou Thiam, Akon’s brother.
This legal action follows a prior dispute from 2018 regarding royalties and advances. While a settlement of $114,000 was reached in 2025, the current suit alleges a breach of that agreement.
