T. rex Discovery Centre marks 35th anniversary of Scotty discovery
The T. rex Discovery Centre in Eastend, Saskatchewan, is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the discovery of Scotty, recognized as the world’s largest T. rex specimen.
Gebhardt, who discovered the fossil, described the find as a matter of luck. While he initially identified it as a large bone, paleontologists Tim Storer and John Tokaryk recognized its significance as a T. rex. The discovery has since played a key role in bringing attention to the fossil records of Saskatchewan and supporting the development of the T. rex Discovery Centre.
The anniversary will be marked by Scotty’s Unearthed Day, featuring community activities such as a scavenger hunt and themed treats.
