TAAG Angola Airlines expands network toward Asia and West Africa

TAAG Angola Airlines is expanding its international network, aiming to establish Luanda as a major African aviation hub. The carrier has announced a new route connecting Luanda, Dakar, and Praia, set to launch on October 31. This service aims to restore direct air links between Angola and Cabo Verde while strengthening connectivity in West Africa through a stopover in Senegal.

Beyond regional expansion, TAAG is targeting long-haul growth into Asia, with China and India identified as potential destinations for regular flights. CEO Nelson Rodrigues de Oliveira stated that the airline is close to announcing Asian routes while continuing to study new connections to Europe and the Americas.

The airline's strategy centers on utilizing the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport in Luanda. The facility is positioned to serve as a continental hub with the capacity to handle 15 million passengers and 130,000 tonnes of cargo annually, supporting trade, tourism, and industry across the continent.
