Taalgrenstrail draws 1,600 walkers in Belgium as Winter Walking Challenge launches in the Netherlands

Around 1,600 walkers took part in the Taalgrenstrail on Saturday, a 30‑year‑old trail that follows the language border between Flemish and Walloon Brabant. Organized by Wandelclub Bellingen, the event offered routes of 17, 30, 42 or 50 kilometres, crossing private paths and unpaved tracks through the Pajottenland and Roman Païs. Because participation exceeded 3,000 the walk was split over two days and forms part of the Flanders Trails series.

In Tilburg, former short‑track star Barbara de Loor inaugurated the Winter Wandeluitdaging, a free 12‑week community walking programme. Participants walk in their neighbourhoods, receive weekly coaching, coffee gatherings and a chance to attend the ISU Short‑Track Championships. The initiative is supported by BrabantSport Fonds, KNSB, TIG Sports and the Bas van de Goor Foundation.
