Taanusiya Chetty gains attention with multilingual speech at Miss World
Taanusiya Chetty, Miss World Malaysia, has gained widespread attention for her multilingual closing speech at the 73rd Miss World pageant held in Vietnam. The 26-year-old delivered her remarks in English, Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil, a gesture praised by netizens for reflecting Malaysia’s multicultural identity.
During her speech, Chetty shared personal experiences regarding the loss of her mother at age 14 and how the support of her stepmother inspired her philanthropic efforts. She founded Be The Change Malaysia in 2022, which has since been officially registered as Pertubuhan Suara Perubahan Insan Murni.
Her organization has benefited approximately 8,000 children and raised RM60,000 through various community service programs. Her work includes collaborating with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education on hospital-based schooling for Orang Asli children, as well as organizing art workshops for autistic youth. Chetty expressed her ambition to expand her emotional intelligence initiatives to Cambodia and Vietnam by 2028.
