Taapsee Pannu to discuss breaking cinematic stereotypes at film festival

Actress Taapsee Pannu will participate in a panel titled ‘From Pink to Power: Breaking Stereotypes Through Cinema’ at an upcoming film festival. The event is scheduled to take place from August 20 to August 23, 2026, at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.

During the session, Pannu intends to discuss her career decisions, the risks involved in choosing unconventional roles, and how cinema can challenge deep-seated stereotypes. She noted that her previous roles in films such as ‘Pink’ and ‘Thappad’ were part of a larger debate because they did not fit into traditional molds. Pannu emphasized that cinema becomes more compelling when women are portrayed as complex, ambitious, and fearless individuals rather than following predictable patterns.

Pannu was recently featured in the courtroom drama ‘ASSI’, directed by Anubhav Sinha, where she portrays a fearless lawyer fighting for justice for a gang rape survivor.
