Tab launches AI assistant to perform daily tasks via messaging apps
Tab, a new AI personal assistant startup, has emerged from its confidential development phase with a reported valuation of $300 million. Founded by Brennan Erbz, Stafford Schlitt, and Ammar Amdani, the service aims to move beyond simple chatbots by performing concrete daily tasks.
Unlike traditional conversational AI, Tab operates directly through messaging platforms such as iMessage and WhatsApp. Users can request the assistant to handle errands like ordering groceries, finding gifts, making reservations, or managing administrative tasks. To execute these actions, the agent utilizes its own dedicated digital environment, including a phone number, a computer, a web browser, and a digital wallet.
To address security concerns, the company states that sensitive banking information is kept in an isolated space that the agent cannot access directly. Furthermore, sensitive operations require explicit user approval, and the company claims it does not use personal data to train its models.
