Tabarka launches major summer clean‑up campaign
The municipalities of Tabarka and Aïn Essobh‑Nadhour began a large‑scale clean‑up operation covering streets, beaches and main entry points as the tourist zone sees a surge of summer visitors. Secretary‑General Farid Riabi said the existing human and material resources can no longer keep pace with the waste generated by tourists, cafés, restaurants and hotels, and stressed the need for rapid collection and disposal to prevent decomposition and fire hazards.
Volunteers from the region and some tourists joined the effort, while many visitors complained about the lack of beach sanitation facilities, the absence of a daily cleaning programme, and high rental prices. They called for shower installations to reduce the use of plastic bottles left on the beaches and along the tourist road.
