Tabasco electoral institute allocates 106 million pesos to political parties

The Electoral and Citizen Participation Institute of Tabasco (IEPCT) has allocated more than 106 million pesos in public funding for the nine registered political parties for the 2026-2027 electoral process. Of this total, approximately 82.2 million pesos are designated for ordinary and specific activities, while nearly 24 million pesos are earmarked for campaign expenses. Additionally, 566,105 pesos have been approved for independent candidacies.

In terms of distribution, MORENA received the highest amount at 33.4 million pesos. Other allocations include 17.5 million pesos for PRD-Tabasco, 7.3 million for Movimiento Ciudadano, 7.2 million for PVEM, 7.1 million for PT, and 5 million for PRI. The remaining funds are split among PAN, PAZ, and SOMOS, who will receive approximately 1.4 million pesos each.

Alongside these financial allocations, the IEPCT is considering increasing fines for political parties that fail to provide complete and high-quality data regarding their candidates. Under the ‘Candidatas y Candidatos, Conócelos’ system, parties must upload curricula, studies, and proposals. During the 2024 process, only MORENA achieved 100% compliance, while other parties like PAN and PRD fell significantly short, leading to previous sanctions.
