Baja California expands Tarjeta Violeta program for female heads of household
The government of Baja California has launched a new phase of the Tarjeta Violeta program in Mexicali, distributing 1,100 new cards to female heads of household. The program, promoted by Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, has been elevated to state constitutional status to ensure permanent support.
Beneficiaries receive a direct bimonthly economic payment of 2,600 pesos. Beyond financial aid, the program provides comprehensive tools for autonomy, including home assistance services (plumbing, electricity, locksmithing), life insurance, and funeral expenses.
Additionally, the initiative offers vocational workshops in areas such as computing, carpentry, and solar panel maintenance, alongside entrepreneurship courses. Educational support is also provided through the Bienestar Integration Centers and specialized transportation to the Universidad Politécnica de Baja California.
