Swiss handball star Tabea Schmid has extended her contract with Team Esbjerg until June 30, 2030. The 23-year-old pivot is currently undergoing rehabilitation following a serious cruciate ligament injury sustained while playing for Switzerland during the World Championship.

Schmid, who previously recorded 287 goals for København Håndbold during the 2024/2025 season, expressed gratitude for the support provided by Team Esbjerg during her recovery. She noted that the club has not pressured her, creating a secure environment as she works to rebuild her confidence and physical form. She aims to return to the court in early 2025.

Outside of her professional handball career, Schmid is studying pedagogy through distance learning at the International University in Hamburg.
