TABLE FOR TWO launches Onigiri Action 2026 to combat food insecurity

The non-profit organization TABLE FOR TWO has launched ‘Onigiri Action 2026’ to address global food issues. Running from October 8 to November 17, the campaign encourages participants to post photos of rice balls on social media or special websites. The number of posts determines the amount of school meals delivered to children in Africa and Asia.

In addition to international aid, the campaign includes support for Japan through the ‘Zenkoku Dokodemo Kodomo Shokudo’ association. This year’s official partners include Nissan Serena, Oisix, Nissui, and Nikoniko Nori. Notable activities include Nissan Serena’s ‘Aozora Onigiri Classroom’ and Oisix’s collaboration with Michelin-starred chef Masahiro Haruta to develop original rice balls.

Olympic silver medalist Mika Sugimoto has been appointed as the special ambassador for the 12th year of the initiative. The campaign aims to build on its history of providing 12.8 million meals through 2.43 million photo submissions over the past 11 years.
