Table tennis initiatives promote sport and health in France
Table tennis activities are being utilized across France to foster community engagement and raise health awareness. In Thourotte, the local club held a two-day training workshop on October 22 and 23, 2026, led by itinerant coach Alexis Saint-Maxent and Michaël Sellier. The event, which included players from Senlis, Noyon, and Clermont, is part of a recurring series held during school holidays to support the club's 72 members.
On a national scale, the French Table Tennis Federation, in partnership with the association SQYPING and the City of Guyancourt, is launching the first edition of ‘Mille tables et une raquette’. This initiative aims to deploy 1,000 ping-pong tables across various French towns and villages. The event serves as a public health campaign to raise awareness for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), promoting adapted physical activity as a tool to improve the quality of life and autonomy for those living with the respiratory condition.
