Tabriz municipality addresses 1,200 damage compensation claims
During the 347th Tabriz City Council meeting, Mehdi Nikbakht, the Deputy Mayor for Urban Development, provided an update on the status of residential and commercial units damaged during the Iran-Iraq War and other specific incidents in Tabriz.
Nikbakht reported that over 1,200 public requests are being processed. A significant portion of these cases has reached the payment stage following expert assessments and documentation reviews. In certain areas, such as District 8, specific compensation amounts have already been disbursed, while remaining files are being reviewed to address potential objections.
To support affected families, the municipality is implementing temporary housing measures, including hotel stays and housing deposit subsidies. Construction and reconstruction efforts are underway through contracts with specialized firms like the Azerbaijan Urban Development and Construction Company. Projects involving complete demolition and debris removal, such as the Shahid Qara-Baghi axis, are progressing, with many units currently in the advanced stages of structural work, utilities installation, and finishing.
