Tabung Haji former chairman and treasury secretary remanded

The former Chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) and the former Secretary General of the Treasury have been remanded for seven days to assist in investigations following revelations from a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report. The remand order, issued by Magistrate Ezrene Zakariah, is effective from August 27 to September 2.

The investigation, conducted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), focuses on issues raised in the RCI report regarding the management and operations of Tabung Haji between 2014 and 2020. The report suggested a forensic audit to examine past investment decisions that led to significant asset devaluation, noting suspicious transactions and the concealment of information.

Additionally, the court extended the remand of a former Chief Executive Officer of Tabung Haji for four days until August 31. The RCI report, which was made public via the JAKIM portal, includes 25 key recommendations aimed at improving transparency, professionalism, and governance within the institution.
