Tacna prepares for 97th anniversary of reincorporation to Peru

The city of Tacna is preparing to celebrate the 97th anniversary of its reincorporation to Peru, which occurred in 1929 following the Treaty of Lima. The anniversary, observed on August 28, includes civic parades, official ceremonies, and cultural events.

Keiko Fujimori is scheduled to arrive in Tacna on August 28 to participate in the festivities. To support the arrival of high-ranking officials, including representatives from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Tacna Police Region is coordinating logistics and has requested vehicle support from the Regional Government for security and transport.

In anticipation of the celebrations, local merchants have set up stalls on Leguía Avenue, selling patriotic items such as flags, cockades, and school accessories in red and white. Prices for flags and sublimated banners start at S/5, while fabric cockades range from S/5 to S/30.
