Tacna to invest S/ 18.7 million in new mental health center
The Regional Government of Tacna has officially launched a project to improve and expand the Valle Pocollay Community Mental Health Center. The project involves an investment of approximately S/ 18.7 million, which covers the technical file, construction, and supervision.
The new two-story facility will be built on a 2,600 m² site in the Pocollay district. It is designed to include specialized consultation rooms for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as psychosocial rehabilitation rooms, a teleconsultation area, an emergency unit, a language therapy room, a laboratory, and a pharmacy. The center will also be equipped with new biomedical, electromechanical, and IT equipment.
This intervention aims to upgrade the facility's category from I-2 to I-3. Once completed, it is expected to benefit more than 66,000 people across the districts of Palca, Calana, Pachía, and Pocollay, as well as the sectors of Natividad and Jesús María. The project has an estimated total duration of 17 months.
