Taco Bell expands to Germany as BoConcept faces insolvency in NRW

Several business developments are occurring in North Rhine-Westphalia. The US fast-food chain Taco Bell is set to open its first publicly accessible location in Germany at the end of September 2026. The restaurant will be located at Hohenzollernring 50 in Cologne, operated by the Koblenz-based Feel Better Holding. This marks a shift from the brand's previous presence in Germany, which was limited to US military bases.

In contrast, the furniture retailer BoConcept is facing financial difficulties. The company behind the brand, Bochum-based GR interior GmbH & Co. KG, has entered preliminary insolvency proceedings as ordered by the Münster District Court. While stores in Dortmund, Bochum, Münster, Essen, Düsseldorf, and Cologne remain open and orders are being fulfilled, the long-term future of these locations remains uncertain as officials consider restructuring or finding new investors.
