Tacoma police rescue over 30 cats from abandoned yacht

More than 30 cats and kittens were rescued from an abandoned yacht near Owen Beach in Tacoma. The animals were found in critical condition, described as malnourished, frightened, and living in unsanitary environments.

Following reports of an abandoned vessel, the Tacoma Police Department obtained a search warrant to board the privately owned boat. The rescue operation required two days of coordinated efforts between marine police, animal control officers, and forensic technicians to safely remove the animals without causing further distress.

The cats have been transported to the Tacoma-Pierce County Humane Society for medical care and recovery. Authorities have launched an investigation into the boat's owner, though they have not yet located the individual.
