Tacoma sues major fire-truck manufacturers in antitrust lawsuit

The City of Tacoma has filed a federal antitrust lawsuit against the largest fire-truck manufacturers in the United States, alleging a multi-year scheme to monopolize the market. The city claims that these manufacturers have driven up prices, caused significant delivery delays, and drained public safety budgets by acquiring competitors and controlling key supply chains.

The lawsuit, which has been consolidated into a single case involving approximately 60 localities, targets three major corporate groups: REV Group, Oshkosh Corporation, and Rosenbauer. These entities reportedly control more than 70% of U.S. fire truck production. The complaint alleges that the consolidation of the market has caused the price of single pieces of apparatus to double or triple while creating extensive delivery backlogs.
