Tadej Pogačar and Jakob Omrzel nominated for Vélo d'Or awards
Tadej Pogačar has been nominated for the Vélo d'Or, an award presented by the French newspaper L’Équipe to the best cyclist of the season. Pogačar, who previously won the award in 2021 and 2024, enters the race following a season that included victories at Milan-Sanremo, the Tour of Flanders, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, and the Tour de France.
Other nominees for the top prize include Remco Evenepoel, Enric Mas, Jonas Vingegaard, Wout van Aert, Mathieu van der Poel, Isaac Del Toro, and Brandon McNulty.
In a newly introduced category for the best newcomer—recognizing riders who have successfully competed in three-week races, monuments, or world championships—Slovenian cyclist Jakob Omrzel is among the three finalists. Omrzel, riding for Bahrain Victorious, joins finalists Paul Seixas and Matthew Brennan. Omrzel distinguished himself this year with a stage win and a seventh-place overall finish at the Vuelta a España.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Monaco on November 28.
